Man Shoots Stepdaughter, Self in Fla. Hospital

Steven Eugene Reynolds reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after fatally shooting his stepdaughter.

A man shot and killed his daughter before turning the gun on himself inside a Tampa hospital on Nov. 23.

Police say Steven Eugene Reynolds, 70, was the shooter in an apparent murder-suicide at Florida Hospital, according to ABC News.

Reynolds reportedly shot his stepdaughter, 41-year-old Alonna Tedesco, while the two were visiting a family member. Tedesco was taken to the hospital’s emergency room and was later pronounced dead. Reynolds was pronounced dead in the third floor hospital room that was the scene of the shooting.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident as if there were an active shooter, although deputies later said the shooting was contained and no patients were injured.

Authorities are reviewing the video surveillance cameras throughout the hospital to give them more information. Police have not released a motive as the incident is under investigation.
