Miss. College Links 3 Remote Campus Public Safety Systems
HCC’s Goodman and Ridgeland campuses along with the Grenada Center will begin sharing law enforcement data once the system is installed.
RIDGELAND, Miss. – Holmes Community College (HCC) will be the first in the state to link three remote college campus public safety systems together using new software offered by PTS Solutions (PTS).
HCC’s Goodman and Ridgeland campuses along with the Grenada Center will begin sharing law enforcement data once the system is installed.
“It is important for us to know what is happening across our campuses in real time for the safety of everyone involved,” explained Jeff Johns, District Director of Public Safety for the college. “Being able to track trends across the district, flagging individuals with restrictions, and the ability to see the activities occurring across the college district greatly improves the safety of our students, faculty and officers and our abilities to be proactive as well as respond to emergencies.”
The HCC Police Department had been using a system developed by the college’s IT department. By moving to the dispatch and public safety reporting system offered by PTS Solutions, HCC will gain the advantages of an advanced and well tested software system.
“The Small Agency Management (SAM) software PTS will install at Holmes County Community College is an advanced yet affordable product we are offering to smaller agencies,” explained PTS President Dave Fuqua. “We understand the difficulties that many smaller agencies and colleges have with funding large public safety projects, so we developed SAM to meet their needs. Our goal with it is to provide a great product at an affordable price.”
The PTS SAM software purchased by HCC will be accessed via the web and includes both dispatching and reporting software. Officers will be able to open calls for service and document locations, times and persons involved. The system includes a reporting application for documenting incident reports, offenses, narratives, property and arrests. In addition, federally required collection of Cleary Act data elements and full UCR/NIBRS reporting is included with the system.
“We are looking forward to getting the PTS system up and running,” Johns said. “This will be an outstanding tool for our officers that will benefit everyone on our campuses.”
